The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has made it mandatory for all candidates applying to non-regular programmes in Nigerian tertiary institutions to use their National Identification Number (NIN) for the 2025 admission process.
This decision aims to improve transparency, prevent fraud, and ensure the integrity of the registration and admission processes.
Who Does This Affect?
This policy applies to candidates applying for non-regular programmes, including:
- National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN)
- Distance Learning programmes
- Part-time programmes
- Sandwich programmes
How to Register for Non-Regular Programmes
Here’s the step-by-step process for registering with JAMB under non-regular programmes:
- Generate a Profile Code:
Send your NIN through your phone to either 55019 or 66019 to receive a profile code. Ensure you use your unique phone number.
- Visit a CBT Centre:
With the profile code, visit an accredited JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) center to complete your registration. - Admission Process:
Once registered, your details will appear on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) under the non-regular admission category of your chosen institution.– The institution will propose and recommend you for admission, which JAMB will review and approve.
– Accept the admission and print your admission letter.
What About Candidates Already Enrolled?
Candidates who are already studying in non-regular programmes but haven’t linked their NIN or unique phone number to JAMB’s platform must integrate their details to access JAMB services.
Important Things to Know
- No Changes to Existing Data: This process cannot be used to modify information already submitted to JAMB.
- Year-Round Access: The JAMB registration platform will remain open throughout the year to accommodate the flexible nature of non-regular programmes.
- Institution Fees: Candidates must pay any required processing fees to their chosen institution. Fees vary by institution.
Why Is This Mandatory?
The NIN requirement is part of JAMB’s effort to prevent fraud and ensure that candidate records are protected from unauthorized access or tampering.
Compliance is Necessary
JAMB has urged all candidates and institutions offering non-regular programmes to comply with this directive. The Board reassures candidates that the registration process will remain flexible and accessible, while adhering to its policies.
