The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has shared simple instructions for generating a profile code ahead of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration.
The guidelines were posted on JAMB’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on January 15, 2025, and stressed the need for accuracy during the process.
Steps to Generate Your Profile Code
- Get Your NIN: Obtain your National Identification Number (NIN) from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
- Use a Valid Phone Number: Ensure you are using a phone number that has not been used for JAMB registration before and that can be retrieved if lost.
- Send an SMS:
- Type NIN in capital letters.
- Leave a space.
- Enter your 11-digit NIN number.
- Send the message to 55019 or 66019.
- Example:
NIN 23456789012
(send to 55019 or 66019).
Important Notes for Candidates
- For Candidates Under 18: JAMB advises candidates below 18 years to use a phone number belonging to a close relative, like a parent, to make it easier to retrieve the SIM if it gets lost or damaged.
- Unique Identifier: Your profile code is your unique identifier with JAMB. It must not be lost or misplaced. If you lose your phone number, retrieve it immediately, as it cannot be replaced.
JAMB stated:
“The card is your unique identifier with the Board and must not get lost at any point in time. If it happens, retrieve it as soon as possible because it cannot be replaced thereafter.”
Why This Is Important
The profile code is essential for completing the UTME registration process. Candidates must follow these steps carefully to avoid issues during registration.
